On 26th November 2024, I returned to the expansive Elvington Airfield to photograph two icons of modern German performance: the Audi R8 V10 and the new BMW G87 M2 Competition. Both cars were captured lined up precisely on the runway’s iconic “26” marker, ready for takeoff in the late autumn light.
The shoot focused on contrast. The sleek, supercar proportions of the R8 against the muscular, boxy stance of the M2. The R8’s carbon accents, low slung profile, and black multi-spoke wheels caught the golden-hour sun perfectly, while the M2’s bold carbon-fibre splitter and canards reflected the surrounding sky’s cool, moody tones.
My personal favourite from this set is a dynamic reflection shot of the R8 seen through the side mirror of the M2, capturing the raw personality and tension between both machines in a single frame. Subtle details, like the R8’s engine cover lifted in the light breeze or the sheen of the M2’s paintwork. A complete a cinematic set that balances energy, symmetry, and design perfection.
Captured in collaboration with Club Class Cars, this series celebrates the shared DNA of power, precision, and presence that defines German performance engineering.
